What is DNS?
Domain Name System - The system of the names of the Internet domains - the base Internet service which provides translation of the domain names into IP numbers and vice versa. It provides simple communication between the people and the Internet because the Internet is based on IP numbers which represent a random string of numbers and periods (full stops) which is almost impossible to remember.
What is RNIDS?
The foundation "Serbian National Internet Domain Registry" (short: RNIDS) is a non-governmental and non-profitable foundation founded on 8th of July, 2006 for controlling the Central national Internet domains registry. RNIDS maintains the national Internet domains in the Republic of Serbia according to the decision of ICANN and particularly manages .RS domain starting from 11th of September, 2007, and .СРБ domain from 21st of April, 2011.
Who is the registrant?
The registrant is the entity that registers and uses the name of .RS and/or .СРБ domain. The registrant can be from inside or outside the country, it can be an individual, a legal entity or an entrepreneur. In fact, registrants are the end users of the Internet domain, but not its owners - they are the entities that rent the domain for a limited amount of time which is not shorter than a year nor longer than 10 years.
Who is the administrative contact?
The administrative contact is an individual, a legal entity or an entrepreneur, authorized in the name of the registrant to receive the meaningful data for the domain name registration from RNIDS, and authorized to do the change of all the data connected to the registration .RS and .СРБ domain in the name of the registrant. Pay attention to the fact that the administrative contact has the same authorization for managing the name of the domain as the registrant.
Who is the technical contact?
The technical contact is an individual, a legal entity or an entrepreneur, authorized to do the change of the technical data connected to the registration of .RS and .СРБ domain (the data about the DNS servers and the change of the technical contact) in the name of the registrant. In practice, the technical contact is usually the Internet provider which has the web presentation to which the domain name is connected, in explanation, the authorized registry in which the domain is registered.
What is Whols service?
Whols service which is offered by RNIDS enables the overview of the publicly available database about the domain names registered under ccTLD registry (Central national internet domain registry). It is usually used for receiving the information about the status of registration of .RS and .СРБ domains (whether they are registered or not). If the domain name is registered, Whols service enables the display of the basic data about the user who registered the name of the domain, as well as the administrative and technical contact, in accordance with all the defined rules about the availability of the data.
